Master Drawings New York: 23 East 73rd Street 4th Floor

For our debut exhibition with Master Drawings New York, we present a selection of museum-quality books and manuscripts spanning four centuries and three continents, demonstrating the diversity of the drawing-book as both artistic record and an important medium for disseminating knowledge.

 

The selections from our inventory include artists’ drawing-books, an imaginary atlas created for the Doge of Venice, and faithful drawings of the Amazon from the 18th century. We highlight a suite of drawings representing the original designs of the Sistine Chapel before the censoring of the intimate parts.

 

The exhibition took place in our gallery at 23 East 73rd Street, where we also have many beautifully illustrated and early printed books on display.
