[Comets]
Carta y relacion, venida de Portugal a un Cavallero de Madrid, dandole cuenta de dos Cometas q se han aparecido en los confines de aquel Reyno, y son sus disenos estos que van estampados en la Relacion, 1699. Zaragoza.
Seventeenth century illustrated relation of a comet over the Iberian Peninsula, the second known copy
First edition (?) of this illustrated relation of a comet sighted in Portugal and Spain in the 17th century, this is the second known copy, the other at the BNE. The title page claims it was originally published in Madrid by Antonio Sanz, however no known copy of that edition exists, perhaps a ghost. Spanish relations on comets are, to say the least, rare.

4to, (200 x 148 mm). 2 ff. Modern folder. Scattered foxing, overall in excellent condition.
Two woodcuts on title portraying the astronomical event, the comets in the shape of a snake (understandable, given the trail projected by a comet) within an oval-shaped frame.
A single copy traced in OCLC, at the BNE.
We are unable to trace this relation in the standard reference sources.
