Provenance: made in the middle of the 15th century, presumably in the Upper or Middle Rhine area (based on the decoration) for an unknown church; sold as lot no. 1 at the auction of Fürst Oettingen-Wallerstein collection (Harburg) at Karl & Faber, Munich, 6-7 November 1933, (possibly) as part of the Marcus Fugger ‘Bibliophile Kostbarkeiten, II. Teil’, lot 1, with plate XII -- Private collection
