A beautiful original watercolor drawing of Manila costumes, signed by François Jules Collignon; the scene portrays three inhabitants of Manila, in local attires, two men and one woman, smoking a cigar in the city of Manila. The artist captured a moment of relax between the inhabitants of Manila, with the city on the background, showing the bridge of Manila. Collignon (c.1800-1850) was a French artist, an accomplished painter and lithographer, his work was included in the prestigious Salon de Paris in 1835; in 1839 he began working with etching and lithography. The scene was later engraved, and published in Lafond´s Voyages author du Monde et Naufrages celebres (1851).
